The California Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs) launched the Zero Net Energy (ZNE) Schools Pilot program for public K-12 schools and community colleges to assist in retrofitting existing facilities to ZNE by leveraging Proposition 39 funding. The IOUs want to provide assistance for 13-18 projects across 13-18 school sites. The ideal project will be a school facility of 5,000 to 30,000 square feet.

As a Local Educational Agency, the California Energy Commission wants to inform you of this resource but has no involvement in the selection process.

Interested K-12 public school districts and community colleges need to respond to the Opportunity Announcement posted at www.energydesignresources.com/Prop39 by May 22nd. Visit that website regularly for pilot updates.
